There was a lot of work visible this week,
so let's get busy trying to describe it
This
is the view of the new entrance into the Grand Narthex, as seen from
Lincoln Avenue. Now we can see that the steel beam and wood that was piled
in the parking lot last week is being put into place as the roof of the
new Grand Narthex.
If
Mara looks out of her office window, this is the view she gets of the new
Grand Narthex roof. She's charged with making sure the boards
are lined up just right.
Here we're standing in the narthex looking toward what used to be the
coat room. The white doors on the right go into the Sanctuary. We assume
that the window in the upper left hand corner will be covered. Wow, this
sure is going to look different than what we were used to before.
Now
here's an interesting tidbit. This is one of the two stained glass
windows that now look out onto the new narthex. They look kind of
dark, don't they? But not to worry. They're going to back-light them so
we'll be able to see their full colorful glory.
The basement is really coming along. The worker is finishing taping the
drywall. But the question on all our minds is: Will it be ready for Sunday
School opening next Sunday?
The arrows point to the new step leading up to the altar. This
picture also shows the nice hardwood floor that was revealed when the
carpeting was removed. The hardwood will be left exposed.
These
guy's are putting in the tile floor in the nursery bathroom. The
inset shows the true color and pattern in the tile.
Finally,
our roving website eye found these packages of what look like windows
stacked up in the nursery. The rectangular ones look like they're
about the right size for the windows on either side of the entrance door,
but where do the ones with the pointy tops go? I guess we'll just
have to wait and see. Tune in next week.
