Surprise Delivery.

The chancel floor is finished. It is not slippery, but I misstepped during the baptism as I carried Kendall to be introduced to you. My thanks to Warren Saur for improving the pulpit (come and see what I mean) as well as the lectern. We continue to wait and see how we are using the chancel area and sound system before we introduce the railing into the floor. This week we have made great progress as the divider walls for downstairs have been delivered, first floor restrooms are completed, and we have hot water!!!!

Usually we start with a view of the entrance to the foyer as seen from the parking lot and/or Lincoln Ave.  This week you've found us looking in the opposite direction. What's different than last week?  What we can see is that the heating ducts have been insulated.  There is also insulation on the walls.  Remember the poor guy last week that was lugging the big bundle of insulation? Well, apparently he got it all installed.

Here's a close up view of the heating ducts.  Last weeks I said that you would never see the ducts again and, sure enough, they are now hidden by the insulation.

The Roving Web Site Photographer was sure curious when this colorful, patriotic truck pulled up.  What could they be delivering?

Shortly they opened the rear doors and folded out these strange looking brackets. What could they be for?

Finally it became a little clearer.  The brackets were part of a hoist system which soon deposited a series of large assemblies, each weighing several hundred pounds, onto a dolly.

We followed them into the basement and then it became clear as they hoisted them into place.  They're still wrapped and folded in this picture, but when done, this will be one of the several movable room dividers that will allow the basement to be broken into a series of separate rooms.

Now here's another mystery (unless you hear Ted Hamm's talk in church last Sunday).

This is a prototype for the new railing that will go into place on the balcony.  It's neat how they've captured the style of the windows in our church.

Work continues on the all important restrooms.  For example, this one has been painted.  Looks like sort of a bluish gray in this picture, but it might look a little different in real life.

Finally, as important as it is to get people into our building, it's also important to get them out safely, no matter what.  New exit signs throughout the building will help.
