Beginning of the End

Don't read anything apocalyptic into the title above.  What we mean is that we're beginning to see some of the finishing touches show up here and there.  Even in the areas where things look pretty rough (like the new entrances below) all the basic structure is in.  It's mostly surface treatment that's still needed.  Therefore, to our uneducated eye, it seems like we're in the final stage of the construction process, so we call it the Beginning of the End.

The changes to the two entrances are similar, so we'll put the pictures side by side.  That change is the addition of the concrete apron outside each door, or at least what will be a door.  The picture on the right is the entrance from the parking lot and we see that they've put in a temporary door which, we presume, is to allow the construction workers to go in an out of what is now a heated space.

The picture on the left shows the room in the office that now holds the copier (seen in the lower right hand corner), but they have begun to rip out the wall to make way for the new lift that will go from the foyer to the first floor of the office.

Janet, is it a little noisy around here?

All the movable dividers have been installed in the basement. There's also a little lockable cabinet in each "room" for (we're guessing) storage of that Sunday School class's supplies.  What a great idea.

Here's an example of what we mean when we say that the finishing touches that are now appearing.  The drinking fountains have been uncovered and are operational. Another seemingly minor but very important, under certain circumstances, addition are the doors on the restrooms.  Ask Ted Hamm if he thinks there's enough water pressure in those rooms.

Now here's a bright idea.  The light fixtures in the sanctuary have been replaced with new, more powerful, ones.  Now we can't use poor lighting as an  excuse for not singing out loudly on those hymns.

Also note the track lighting on the ceiling in the balcony above the handbell tables.   Similar lights are over the vocal choir area.  The musicians appreciate more light too.
