Lift your eyes...

Lift continues to be the key word in this week's report. Lift your eyes towards the heavens (while standing in the foyer) and you'll see all the work taking place on the ceiling. In addition, there's progress to be reported on the lift to the offices.

If you're around the church frequently (or even every day, as with Pastor and the staff), it perhaps seems as if this construction activity has been going on forever and that there could be no better Christmas present than to have it done. Your webmaster is not one of those who has to trudge through the dust every day, but to all those that do, and even to those who just have to tiptoe through the construction area once a week on their way to sevices and meetings, we offer our sincere thanks for putting up with the mess. We truly believe that the long term results will be spectacular, and most important, will contribute significantly to our worship and fellowship experience.

Lincoln Ave entrance

If it looks to you as if there has been no progress on the entrance to the Grand Foyer off Lincoln Ave., well, that's the way it looks to us too. We know they're working inside on painting the new doors, but other than that, we have to have faith that, one of these weeks, there'll be some real action out here.

If you had walked into the foyer (which we really don't recommend that you do while work is in progress) you would have found a beehive of activity. Workers on lifts, workers on scaffolding and master carpenters planning the details of the finishing woodwork.

Look up (Lift your eyes...)
and you'll see that the ceiling has really been transformed in the past week. Last week we reported that the ceiling was done and just needed to be taped. Little did we know that a plain, flat ceiling was not in the plans.

We caught these workers putting up what looks like a metal track. We wondered what that could be for.

By the way, the guy on the right says his name is Levi and he doesn't know what he's doing. We dispute the latter.

After a few minutes later we came back and found that the "track" was part of the structure for the soffet that makes up one of the ceiling panels.

So they really did know what they were doing.

More carpenters at work.

This picture is not much, but it's here to remind me to mention that, while we were taking these pictures, the official elevator inspectors were putting the final stamp of approval on both of our lifts.

This door is to the lift that goes from the foyer to the first floor of the office area. A second lift, also completed, provides access to the balcony and the second floor of the education building.
