Progress continues, but at a measured rate. This week we saw progress on the outside siding but also found a crew of volunteers moving stuff back into the church as well as cleaning up a little.
As we drove up to the church this week, the
most obvious change was the completion of the siding
installation. It received its first coat of paint as
well.
This picture is the Lincoln Ave. entrance and the next is
the parking lot entrance.
The siding
looks very nice as does the rest of the trim that they've put
in place.
This is not really something new, but I don't
think I've shown it before. Two of the pews on each side of
the sanctuary were shortened to allow room for these
movable chairs for those who find it difficult to get into
regular pews. If needed, the chairs can be removed
completly for wheelchairs.
These strange makings on the walls have been reported to
be a road map, or even a road map to heaven. It's also been
suggested that they might be Chinese writing. But we
suspect that the painters are touching up some of the small
cracks in the wall prior to painting.
The day these photos were taken happened to be a work
day for the Properties and Maintenance committee and any
others who would help. Here we see a couple guys wrestling
a heavy table down the stairs into the storage room.
There were a number of people at church on
this work day cleaning up here and there. They all seemed
to be enjoying the opportunity to help out, but none
seemed to be quite as happy as Ruth Hedin when we caught
her vacuuming.
