Friends of Music Concert

Please take a pause from this often frantic time to refresh your spirit by joining the Friends of Music for a choral treat.
Following the program, join in fellowship and a reception featuring tasty treats and wine, coffee/tea, and juice beverages. Children are very welcome – there will be some kid-friendly music and treats!

St. Paul ’s Lutheran Church :
A Little Discussion
on our Pipe Organs
The pipe organ currently
installed in our choir loft replaced one that was about 70 years old. St. Paul ’s had
purchased the organ second-hand and had it rebuilt and enlarged by a Rochester pipe organ builder. This two-chambered organ was installed at
what is now the front of the church with one chamber at each side of the
chancel or altar. It was dedicated in
September, 1929.
When the congregation
remodeled the church in the mid-1960s, the faithful old organ, after nearly 40
years of service to St.
Paul ’s, was
on its last “pipes” and needed to be replaced. A new Schlicker organ from the Schlicker Organ Co. of Buffalo was purchased for
approximately $30,000 and installed in 1967 in a new gallery, now known as the
choir loft. As you know, this “new” organ gets a thorough work-out every Sunday and after 40 years of service is
now in need of some repairs and improvements.
