 The Rev. Johanna Rehbaum, Pastor

pastorjohanna@stpaulspittsford.org

I’m Pastor Johanna, and I’ve served at St. Paul’s since 2019. I am a Rochester transplant, originally from Northern California (by way of Minnesota, Slovakia, Connecticut, Florida, and Gettsyburg). I love serving at St. Paul’s because of our generous, kind, thoughtful and supportive people, and our dedication to making our little corner of the world a little better. In my role as pastor, I especially love to preach – what a gift, the opportunity to share a message that can bring hope and comfort, but also challenge when that is what is needed. Some things outside of pastoring that bring me joy include: reading aloud to my two kids, making music with other people (singing, oboe, ukulele, whatever!), and thrift-shopping, especially with my mom. I dream of a world in which peace and justice for all are realized, joy is abundant, and I always manage to cut open the avocado when it is the perfect ripeness.

Most notably, he was awarded 2nd place in the 2019 American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Brock Student Composition Competition.  His pieces have been performed by seven of the large ensembles at St. Olaf, including choirs, bands, and orchestras, and in the Spring of 2018, his music made its international debut as the Hochstein Youth Symphony Orchestra from Rochester, NY brought one of his works on their tour to Portugal and Spain. Jon is passionate about bringing the voices of living composers into the sacred music canon.

A native of Rochester, NY Jon remains active in local musical theater as a pit musician and music director.  He has served as accompanist for the Fairport High School choirs. Jon enjoys taking long walks around his hometown, is an avid baseball fan, and enjoys baking and cooking. Jon aspires to pursue graduate studies in Choral Conducting in the future.

I joined St. Paul's in 2022 after a career in community banking. What I love most about my position is providing support behind the scenes to ensure a meaningful worship experience for all. I enjoy spending my free time with my family.
